The franchise I chose to research was Cricket by Generation Mobile Business Opportunity. Cricket first opened in 2011 and started licensing that same year. I chose this franchise because most people have a cell phone. Also Cricket is a no contract phone company. This means that you can change phone companies without being charged for early termination. Also you can change cell phones without having to wait for an upgrade.
Cricket by Generation Mobile was in “The New Normal & The Wireless Consumer’ on Tuesday, November 29, 2011 for its “no signed contracts, no limits” offering and being an affordable wireless service. It cost about $59,930-$79,356 to open a Cricket by Generation Mobile Business. There are no initial, royalty or advertising fees for this company.  Cricket does offer financing help if someone wanted to open a Cricket location. They use a group called tenet financial group. They also offer training if someone wanted to work for Cricket or take on a management role at a Cricket Business. There in onsite training from Cricket Master Dealer-Generation Mobile, a team of retailers with over 15 years in the wireless industry. There are 4.5 million customers in 34 states. As the pioneer of unlimited services with no long-term commitments or credit checks, Cricket offers the best options for the nation's millions of value-minded consumers who seek connectivity via mobile technology. As an Authorized Cricket Premier location, you will get a strong brand name along with the support of a seasoned Master Dealer. Cricket Premier Locations available as part of expansion plan by Master Dealer. Marketing assistance provided. Revenue streams include sale of Smartphone & mobile phone plans, Muve music plans & accessories to value-seekers. Cricket no contract plans compete against carriers requiring contracts.

  1. I have never heard of Cricket, but i think it is an interesting business. It must be hard for them to maintain good sales due to the fact that so many customers are with brand name contracts, like Verizon, Sprint, and T-mobile. This could be a good franchise to open up because of the fact that many customers are looking to get away from contract bills, and for something with less commitment. It is also good for people who might just need a temporary cell phone. I think if enough people wanted phones with no contracts, then Cricket might do well as a company. However, many people are invested in their phones, and the companies they are with, and most people now have phones, so it would be hard to find a target audience for this product/service. They are a fairly new franchise, so they could either do well or poorly, I do not think they have been in the market long enough to say whether or not they would be a good company to invest in franchising with. I do think it is a good idea though, and they offer a variety of phones, including smart phones, which is what most people are looking for right now.

  2. Cricket sounds very interesting Tyler. I know that I have had a lot of cell phones issues where I ran into the case where I wished I did not sign certain contracts because I wanted to switch companies. The was a smart company to chose to research only because in this day and age, cell phones have literally become part of the human anatomy (not really but they're always attached to peoples' hands). I too agree with Jenn that the fact that this company might have problems attracting a large crowd of customers only because most people are already signed to a company. However, this company should invest a lot of money in advertisement so that when many people eventually come out of their contracts, they are aware of this other option of no contracts or hidden deals.
People will absolutely be willing to try out this company because humans try out so many new technology advances everyday. Some of my relatives have pre-ordered the new iPhone months ahead of time. It is crazy, however, a good business will understand what the people want, and this company is strongly based on complying with peoples' desires. This company has a lot of more potential to truly blow up big, and I think the entrepreneur(s) that started this company have a bright future.

I found a commercial that had a funny joke in it. Humor is a great way to get on customers' side, and this advertisement did a good job portraying that.

Anyways Tyler, I truly feel you found a great company to research and maybe some day you could be working for them. Who knows?
