My
name is Nicholas Roberts and i am from Torrington, Connecticut, this
past summer I had a job at Thomaston savings bank doing maintenance but while I
was there I was able to apply for internships and make connections in the
future. I am going to be finance major in hopes of an internship this summer at
the bank. For my future dream job I would like to work at a well-established
company in the field whatever it may end up being first to work under someone
who has a successful model, and to try and learn as much as I can
from those experiences.
On Inc’s Top Young Entrepreneurs, 30 under 30
the entrepreneurs that interested me the most were Christopher Kelly and
Adriann Wanner who are co-founders of Evo Jets which is a company that books and organizes
flights for clients. One thing I learned from this article was how Adriann
first worked for another company "I got an inside look at the inner
workings of the private jet card and fractional industries which were riddled
with high fixed costs and limited in geographic scope.” This quote shows how Adriann
used her experience to learn about the field and then open a business that
solves or changes a lot of the complaints of the regular companies. I was also
impressed that Christopher Kelly also had another business on the top 30’s with
Sentry Centers which left Adriann to most of the day to day jobs.
This business showed a similar situation
with what I would like to do with my career, work for someone well established
in business and then create a business. This allows you to observe and find a
glitch or something that you can feel you can do better or change to draw
people into your own company instead of going with the regular. This was a
different type of job than I would of
done but it showed a similar plan that has worked out for someone else.
