My name is Tim Miller. I was born on April 1st 1994 and live in Norfolk Massachusetts. I graduated from Xaverian Brothers High School in May. I am currently at Nichols College in order to study Sports Management. In the future I hope to be able to work as a sports agent in either a large or small market organization. I would enjoy leaving college with a position in a smaller company in order to help get my career on the right track and hopefully be able to move up to a larger corporation with better known athletes in the future. My dream job would be to work for big name athletes in either football or baseball. Having been a lifelong sports fan, I have always been interested in the business side of sports and I would love to do it for a career.
When it comes to interesting young entrepreneurs
one stands out. 25 year old Glenn Clayton started a tutoring service for high
school students while attending The University of Alabama. He now runs Appleton
Learning, based out of Huntsville Alabama, is a tutoring company that serves
thousands of students and has over one thousand tutors. Mr. Clayton interests
me because of how he was able to begin his business from his dorm room and be
able to expand and prosper into a million dollar enterprise. It astonishes me
how he was able to manage his growing company as well continue his studies at
such a institution like the University of Alabama. I cannot imagine how
stressful it must have been working sixty hours a week on expanding as well as
balancing the amount of work given to him by his professors. I admire Glenn
Clayton because I am currently in his position of being a college student and
in need of money he gives me a possible was of gaining money. For
something that Glenn began as something just to make money to help pay for his
college education, he has done pretty well.
I agree with you Tim. That is an awesome thing Glenn Clayton started. I think it is cool that just by a simple idea; you can open up a whole world of opportunities. There are so many students that struggle with school, and it’s cool to know that people like Glenn Clayton did too. It’s really inspiring to see how one person’s idea can benefit millions of people. I did some reading from the Appleton website, and there are so many fun things that they offer to parents and students. I highly suggest using Appleton for any academic issues you are having in any subject. Glenn Clayton did pretty well for himself, and it just proves that any struggling college student can pursue their dreams. All you have to do it believe in yourself, and always bring your ideas to the table. Never stay in the backround.
ReplyDeleteThis is interesting Tim and I really enjoyed reading this. It's amazing what you can do when you put a simple idea to the test. There are so many college students that struggle with their studies and time manangement, including myself. It really amazes me that Glenn Clayton struggled in school too. He just doesn't seem like that kind of student. After visiting the Appleton link, I noticed there are alot of studying, and working, and note taking methods that students can use. I will most definitely be using some of those methods during my four years at Nichols College. After reading this and a little of his website it just shows you that even if your struggling in school, you can still achieve your goals and find a good paying job.
