My name is Jesse Vieira and I am from Wilbraham, Massachusetts. I am a freshman at Nichols college, where I am majoring in Criminal Justice. I graduated from Minnechaug Regional High School where I also played lacrosse. I plan on walking onto the lacrosse team here at Nichols. I'm not sure exactly what I want to do once I graduate from college. One day in my hometown of Wilbraham, I thought it would be really fun to be a police officer for the Wilbraham Police Department. Driving around pulling people over and busting high school parties seems rather appealing to me. I can see myself being very happy with that job.
Out of Americas Best Young Entrepreneurs, I admire Glenn Clayton the most. Glenn Clayton started a tutoring service out of his dorm while studying at the University of Alabama. Glenn would tutor high school students. More and more students would sign up for his tutoring. So much, that Glenn had to hire his peers to tutor as well. Glenn then founded Appleton Learning in 2007, with about 1000 tutors. Appleton Learning has served over 6000 students and has been doubling revenues every year since. I find it amazing how Glenn set his mind to something and succeeded, growing a huge company and making a lot of money. Glenn Clayton is a prime example of how you can do anything as long as you put in the time and dedication.
I wonder what subject Glenn Clayton was studying at the University of Alabama. I wouldn’t think that it would be possible to really make that much money just by tutoring kids. When I think of people tutoring some one I think of someone doing it in their spare time. I definitely don’t think of a business that has 1000 tutors and 6000 students. I wonder if he intended for his little side business that he had at school to make a little extra money to actually tern into such a big thing. I do not think that he did because from reading the article it sounds like he was doing it just to pay for school. I hope that some day you get to do your dream job as being a police officer in your hometown. Just make sure that you don’t pull over any of your family members and give them a ticket. I do not think that they would be very happy with you.
