Dave Mowles' Dream Job Entry

Hey there everyone, my name is Dave Mowles, I'm currently a sports management major here at Nichols. My dream starting job would be a player's representative an agent of sorts, whether its through a sports agency, or through the actual team themselves. This job usually has a broad spectrum of activities, but the main idea behind the whole job is to make sure the players are happy, represented, and acting accordingly. The underlying reason behind this being my dream job choice is that this job usually leads to working as an actual agent, or a front office executive. To go about achieving this dream, I figure getting at least BSBA with a specialization in sports management to start will help get me on the right path to sitting in that seat of power I dream of one day.

While going through the article about the thirty under thirty, one group fairly stood out to me, which was the guys from AnchorFree, Eugene Malobrodsky, and David Gorodyansky. Now you may be wondering who these guys are, what they have done to get on this list, and why I chose them. Well to put it quite simply they stop overpowered government censorship on the internet, giving countries like Egypt the ability to use the social media website twitter.com during the recent revolution. AnchorFree states that roughly two billion people use the internet, and about 600,000 people live in areas where the internet is government censored. I like the idea of what these guys are doing, they are basically knocking down the metaphorical “berlin wall” of the internet, giving thousands the ability to access any type of information they want. People like this have helped change society for centuries, simply by giving others freedoms that their government unfairly restricts for power control purposes. In this new day and age, we have become so technologically advanced, that now the voice of one man or woman can reach thousands, scratch that, millions with the click of a button. This type of power has been abused by many, but when used properly can help spark an idea, an idea of change, but most of all, an idea of hope, and thats what I think AnchorFree really does.

  1. i also thought about picking these two. What they did really made a huge difference to many people. Anyone who is involved with social media or the internet is looking for a way to make it better, and that is exactly what these men did.
