Small Business Owner

  1. There are not many tae kwon do studios around me so the fact that he is able to keep his studio around since 1998 impresses me. There are some studios that open but they are gone as quickly as they came around. Tae kwon do is just not as big as it used to be amongst the younger generations which is why there are not so many around anymore. I agree that the hardest aspect is to gain and maintain loyal customers especially in a niche market like this. “ These sparsely occupied spaces in the market tend to have fewer competitors because they simply aren’t big enough-or high-profile enough-for large firms.” (Kelly/McGowen 106-107) I learned that even though you are a small industry and your competitors are scarce that it is still possible to stay afloat. Especially in this generation. There are some who like tae kwon do and good for them because it teaches discipline, respect and how to defend yourself but a good majority of the generation wants to be out playing a well known and more popular sport. I feel as if everyone tried it then they would like it too and I hope that happens because then maybe it will be easier for tae kwon do studios to stay put.
