Your content is very interesting. The fact that you have included the reasons why your father chose to become an S corporation shows the explanation. Having also interviewed someone that runs an S corp I understand why your father decided to choose this. I find it very interesting that your dads company offers both a product and a service. Your dad must really work hard since he is going up against competition from big insurance firms like Liberty mutual and Commerce. We have discussed in class how important it is to build up a competitive edge against your competition and your dad does this well with all of the advertising and building customer satisfaction. Your father must have a great vision for this company’s future if he wants you and your brother to join him in the business. The company must be very kind to their customers if in employees he is looking for people who are personable and friendly. The story of the claim filed by the 85 year old man is hilarious. I mean why would he want to clean the brushes with gasoline? The advice that your dad gives to kids that would want to go into the insurance field is really good advice. If I was ever thinking of going into the insurance field I would definitely look at Southwick Insurance.
Your Dad's business sounds very interesting. I like the fact that the company avoids double taxation by its income taxed as if it were a partnership. The fact that you included that the competition out there for this area of a company is smart because it is so true. Insurance companies are constantly going through struggles and one of the struggles you included was "meeting cash flow". This is important because have money on a piece of paper is not the same as the cash flow because there is such high demand for it. I respect your father because this kind of company can be extremely hard to form, and it can crash too, so it was a risky choice for your father. Anyways you did a good job.
